Discussion

The survey respondents were effective in meeting with development teams after the test.  A majority of usability consultants documented their recommendations for improving the usability challenges.  The golden opportunity for usability consultants either internal to their company or as a consultant lies in tracking the recommendations with the business/development team see if the solutions are actually implemented.

• 82% of those surveyed follow up with the development teams after the usability test
• 63.4% of those who follow up do so within 1-5 days after a test
• 79.3% of usability test follow-up meetings are completed within 10 days after a test.
• 62% of the survey respondents indicated that they document the resolutions they recommend for the usability challenges found during the test. 
• Only 26% of respondents actually tracked the recommendations to see if they are implemented.
